seven persons were confirm burnt to death while 18 others sustained various degrees of injury in a Auto crash that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Thursday, the accident occurred at a spot a few matres after Sapade Bridge in the Remo-North Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The Public relation Officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Command, Florence Okpe, confirmed the accident in a statement on Thursday while he added that 18 persons were injured in the crash,
he said “A total of seven persons were burnt beyond recognition,
“Two vehicles, a Toyota Sienna with number plate BWR762PV and a Mazda bus with number plate BDN18 LG were involved.
“The suspected causes of the fatal crash were speed and route violation on the part of the Sienna bus which followed one-way and collided with the Mazda bus and unfortunately there was a fire outbreak.
“The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical attention and some to Idera Hospital, Sagamu.”
Okpe added that the corpses were deposited at a private morgue in Ipara.
She quoted the Sector Commander, Ahmed Umar, as cautioning motorists on the dangers of route violation and excessive speed.
