The leader of theIndigenous People of Biafra(IPOB),Nnamdi Kanu, says Omoyele Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow Movement is in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) because he had a meeting with him (Kanu).
ELIOLOADEDreports that Kanu made this statement during a live broadcast on Radio Biafra on Sunday, December 8, where he spoke on the maltreatment of Sowore by officials of the DSS and the abuse of human rights in Nigeria.
Kanu, Sowore, candidate of the African Action Congress in the 2019 general elections, met in New York, United States, to strategize on what they describe as “injustice in Nigeria.”
This online news platform had reported earlier that the DSS released Sowore on Thursday night after spending 124 days in detention.
Sowore’s release followed a court ruling ordering DSS to release him in the next 24 hours.
However, on Friday morning, thesecret police re-arrested Soworein the premises of the Federal High court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital and reportedly took the activist to the DSS headquarters.
Apparently displeased with Sowore’s travails, Kanu held a live broadcast, where he condemned the act and also called for his release.
The IPOB leader went further to allege that the Nigerian government led by President Muhammadu Buhari is not interested in Sowore but is only using the Sahara Reporters publisher to get close to him (Kanu).
“The only reason Sowore is in prison is because he had a meeting with me. They are not fighting Sowore. They are fighting me.”
Meanwhile, Nnamdi Kanu is leading a group (IPOB) seeking secession from Nigeria. The group has since been proscribed by theFederal Government of Nigerialed byPresident Muhammadu Buhari.
